Overview

Kidepo valley national park is situated in the northeastern corner of Uganda, The park can be accessed by road or by air, the total distance from Kampala to Kidepo valley national park is approximately 410km, just by road.  If you are looking for a safari to Kidepo valley national park we recommend you book in the dry season mostly in September and through March when the vegetation is sparser and view different species of wildlife in July and August. This will allow you to view the wildlife at its peak and such animals include oribi, zebra, elephants, eland, Rothschild giraffe, spotted hyena, bush pigs, and buffalo. The park is considered as the great park in Africa for great buffalo herds.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kapchorwa to visit Sipi Falls

After having your breakfast in the morning, your guide will give you a briefing before you depart to the eastern part of Uganda to hike the Sipi Falls which are situated on the Mount Elgon ridges.

On your way, your will view eye-catching sceneries of sugar plantations, factories, Mabiraforest, the new Jinja bridge, the source of the river Nile and others. A  stopover in Jinja town for lunch and refreshments after you will proceed to Kapochorwa.

Upon arrival at Sipi Valley Resort, your guide will take you for a visit to a series of 3 waterfalls with the longest drops as high as 100m. The second waterfall drops 75m below and has upper cascades before the plunge. The third waterfall measures 85m and is tall and columnar. The place is dramatic and with stunning activities.

You will visit the cave and do swimming in the plunge pool, later your guide will take you to the top of the waterfall for a spectacular view of Karamojong plains, meandering rivers on Mt. Elgon, sunset view, wanale view and Mt.Elgon national park. After you will follow your guide to the abseiling point and rock climb the most romantic adventure at Sipi Falls.

After you will embark on Sipi valley resort for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer from the Sipi Falls Kapchorwa to Kidepo Valley National Park

Early morning after having your breakfast you will embark on your safari vehicle you proceed to drive to the northeastern part of Uganda, On your safari you be meeting up with farm fields and view the incredible sceneries of the savannah and the plains along Kitgum-Kidepo Valley national park.

Upon arrival at Apoka safari lodge which is the remoteness lodge in the park that gives an epic view of the Narus River closer to the lodge. You will have your dinner as you head off for an evening game drive in Narus Valley the best spot for wildlife game safaris in Kidepo valley national park. If you are a birder you will view beautiful species of birds like ostrich, secretarybirds, woodpecker,red-throated bee-eater, Kori bustard and birds of prey like Egyptian vulture, Verreaux eagle and pygmy falcon. You will continue until the sun sets and this will give you a high chance to view nocturnal animals cheetahs, and reedbuck that often appear in night hours.

After the evening and night game drive you embark to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 3: Kidepo Valley game drive and Kanangorok hot spring  safari

Your breakfast will be ready and after having it you will set off for an excellent safari in the middle of kidepo valley national park. On your safari, you will view the big four animals like elephants, buffalo, lions & leopards in the park. As we proceed you will also view the big cats inhabiting the park and these include lions, cheetah & hyenas.

After a morning game drive, you will embark on your lodge for lunch and refreshments. After having your lunch your driver guide will drive far to the northern parts of the park for a visit to Kanangorok hot spring which is situated beyond the Kidepo river that is bordering south Sudan the best safari ever in Kidepo, you will relax while viewing the wilderness. You will also view Mountatain Morungole the highest mountain in Kidepo valley national park, this border Sudan and here you will interact with IK people. The IK people are the smallest ethnic group in Uganda that originated in the place before the Karamojong people and these people have a unique and wondrous culture which you couldn’t have missed on your safari to Kidepo Valley National Park. After this long game drive safari you embark to your lodge overnight.

Day 4: Transfer from Kidepo valley national park to Upper  Murchison Falls National Park.

After having breakfast in the morning, you will be briefed and after you will head off to Masindi district in northwest Uganda to tour  Murchison Falls on the shore of Lake Albert. The park is known for its powerful waterfalls and is regarded as the most powerful waterfall in the world.

Upon arrival in  Murchison falls national park, lunch will be ready and later you will go for an evening game drive in the open savannah plains in a safari vehicle, you will spot animals like hartebeests, elephants, hippos, impalas, African buffalo, lions, hyenas jackals and among other.

Later you will embark on your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Hiking on top of the waterfall and Boat cruise experience

You will have breakfast or lunch before you set off for a boat ride. The boat ride at Murchison Falls is a clear opportunity for you to take beautiful and clear shots of the animals along the Nile because the boat gets closer to the animal along the bank. The cruise adventure will begin at Paara Jetty as you head eastwards. You will have an incredible experience taking 3-5 hrs and as the boat cruises you will view hundreds of hippos, Giant crocodiles busking along the bank, herds of buffalos, Ugandakobs, bushbucks, waterbucks and among others. Later the boat will dock at Baker’s Point. This is where you will set off for a hike to the top of the waterfall and view is superb for great shoots and birdwatching the beautiful and different species of birds like a black-winged red bishop, African skimmers, yellow mantled widow bird, African fish eagle, African jacanas, Goliath herons, pied kingfishers,saddle-billed storks and among others. Later you be picked up by your guide from the top of the waterfalls and finally back to your lodge for overnight or dinner.

Day 6:Transfer Murchison Falls National Park to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Early in the morning, After having your breakfast you embark on your vehicle and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary a drive will take approximately 4hrs. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a proud home for white rhinos situated inNakitoma- Nakasongola district towards Murchison falls national park.

Upon arrival, you will have lunch at the Sanctuary and later your guide will escort you to track endangered white rhinos on foot. Alongside rhino trekking, birdwatching as another activity will also give you an incredible, unforgettable experience of a lifetime. You will sit in a canoe to trek shoebill though they normally appear in huge numbers early in the morning few can be viewed at any time. You will get gazed at different species of birds like barbets, speckled-breasted woodpeckers, Africanblackcrake, blue spotted doves, shoebill storks, palm nut vultures and among others inhabiting the big trails in the woodlands, swamps and savannah.

After you will embark to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Kampala  City

After finishing your breakfast you will be transferred back to your place of residence or to any place of your convenience .our vehicle will be stopped in Kampala or Entebbe and an extra charge may apply if you exceed or take other routes.

Finally, this brings us to the end of your 7 days of our safari

Kidepo Valley is in the remote northeast corner of the country. The park has a true wilderness feel and is a great destination for the adventurous traveler. It has excellent wildlife viewing during the Dry season, featuring several species not encountered anywhere else in the country. The park has a very impressive mammals list. Twenty species of predator are resident, and several don't exist in any other Ugandan park (including cheetah and black-backed jackal). Lion is common and leopard also occurs. Elephant, Burchell's zebra, buffalo and Rothschild's giraffe are all regularly seen, but black rhino has recently become extinct. Twelve antelope species are present – some of which don't occur anywhere else in the country.
